“I’ve always
felt that diamonds shine so much better than a gift you’d buy yourself.”
In mineralogy, DIAMOND is a stable allotrope of carbon,
in which the carbon atoms are arranged in a diverse form of face-centered cubic
crystal structure called the diamond lattice.
Diamond is best
known as a material with superior physical qualities, most of which arise from
the strong covalent bonding between its atoms. In particular, diamond has the
highest hardness and thermal conductivity of any bulk material. These
properties determine the main industrial application of diamonds in cutting and
polishing tools and scientific applications in diamond knives and diamond anvil
cells.
Most natural diamonds form at high temperatures and
pressures at depths ranging from 140 to 190 kilometers (87 to 118 miles) in the
Earth’s mantle. It has a hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness.
Carbon-containing
minerals provide the carbon source, and growth occurs over periods of 1 billion
to 3.3 billion years (25% to 75% of Earth’s age). Diamonds are brought near the
Earth’s surface through deep volcanic eruptions by magma, which cools into
igneous rocks known as kimberlite and lamproite. Diamonds can also be produced
synthetically in a high-pressure, high-temperature process that roughly
simulates conditions in the Earth’s mantle. A completely different and
alternative growth technique is chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Many
non-diamond materials, which include cubic zirconia and silicon carbide and are
often called simulated diamonds, are similar to diamond in appearance and many
properties. Special gemological techniques have been developed to distinguish
between natural and synthetic diamonds and simulate diamonds.
Diamonds are believed to have been first identified and
mined in India, where large clay deposits of the stone several centuries ago
can be found along the Pinner, Krishna and Godavari rivers. Diamonds have been
known in India for at least 3000 years but most likely 6000 years.
It has been believed since ancient times that diamonds
contain magical, mythical, and healing properties, because the phenomenon of
phosphorescence in some types of diamonds gives them the ability to glow at
night, which in the past was evidence of the stone’s supernatural power, so the
ancients believed that diamonds calm mental illness and protect against demonic
attacks Even from the spirits phantoms and nightmares, and gives unlimited
support and courage to the warrior on the battlefield, and it symbolizes
strength and control, and the reason for this is his cruelty. In past
centuries, the kings of Europe used to put diamonds on their crowns without
cracking and its true size.. in addition to virtue and generosity. And during
the judiciary in the courts, things go by the wearer’s favor, protected from
destructive lightning, storms and pests.
It also increases spiritual and mental clarity and helps
in establishing inner peace and human justice as it makes you fair in your
judgments and choices, and will guide you to the being of your strength and the
center of your energies, illuminating insight and activating the chakras,
bringing luck,And a deterrent to envy and witchcraft, and one of its properties
is that it sweats when there is poison or poisoned food.
